The ultimate aim of sanding and finishing is to provide a smooth surface with the desired surface coating suitable to provide the performance required as there are so many problems associated with wood floor. In general, the sanding operation consist of a series of steps, where each step will produce a finer and smoother surface. The number of steps will depend on the condition of the floor and the hardness of the timber species.

There are preliminaries that our expertise follow before started the sanding process. The condition of the floor should be assessed prior to sanding to ensure that it is ready for sanding. We check for vertical movement at board or end-matched joints and check the overall condition of the floor, paying particular attention to any degree of cupping in boards, gapping at boards edges , and signs of moisture.

The basic or initial sanding is to make the boards level. Taking out any ridges or high points in the floor to provide a reasonably level floor. Subsequently, several steps are taken to remove any sanding scratches generated by this initial step. It usually comprises three traverses with the sanding machine.
